Cosmological Constraints from Galaxy Cluster Velocity Statistics
Future microwave sky surveys will have the sensitivity to detect the kinematic Sunyaev-Zeldovich signal from moving galaxy clusters, thus providing a direct measurement of their line-of-sight peculiar velocity. We show that cluster peculiar velocity statistics applied to foreseeable surveys will put significant constraints on fundamental cosmological parameters. We consider three statistical qu...
متن کاملCosmology from Cluster Sz and Weak Lensing Data
Weak gravitational lensing and the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect provide complementary information on the composition of clusters of galaxies. Preliminary results from cluster SZ observations with the Very Small Array are presented. A Bayesian approach to combining this data with wide field lensing data is then outlined; this allows the relative probabilities of cluster models of varying complexity...
متن کاملCosmological Constraints from the Red-Sequence Cluster Survey
We present a first cosmological analysis of a refined cluster catalog from the RedSequence Cluster Survey (RCS). The input cluster sample is derived from 72.07 square degrees of imaging data, and represents a deep uniform subset of the imaging data available within the RCS survey images which probes to the highest redshift and lowest mass limits. The catalog contains 956 clusters over 0.35 < z ...
متن کاملCosmological Constraints from the Rosat Deep Cluster Survey
The ROSAT Deep Cluster Survey (RDCS) has provided a new large deep sample of X–ray selected galaxy clusters. Observables such as the flux number counts n(S), the redshift distribution n(z) and the X-ray luminosity function (XLF) over a large redshift baseline (z∼ 0.8) are used here in order to constrain cosmological models. Our analysis is based on the Press–Schechter approach, whose reliabilit...
متن کاملLensing results from the Red-sequence Cluster Survey
We present a variety of weak lensing results based on the ongoing analysis of RC-band imaging data from the Red-Sequence Cluster Survey (RCS). We briefly discuss the weak lensing signal induced by intervening large scale structure (cosmic shear), and study the properties of the dark matter halos surrounding galaxies with 19.5 < RC < 21 (which have a median redshift of z = 0.35) using a parametr...
